'Joe's Garage Tribute Weekend' Raises More Than $4,000
May 26, 2009SOLITUDE AETURNUS and WARBEAST (formerly TEXAS METAL ALLIANCE) are among the bands who performed at the Joe's Garage Tribute Weekend on May 22-24 at the Rockstar Sports Bar in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Joe's Garage Tribute Weekend remembered Abboud "Abb" Greig and the impact his club, Joe's Garage (where bands like PANTERA and RIGOR MORTIS got their start),had on the original Dallas metal underground.
Commented WARBEAST singer Bruce Corbitt (also of RIGOR MORTIS): "We had record attendance for the Rockstar Sportsbar on Friday and Saturday night. There were over 280 people that paid on Friday night. Over 320 paid on Saturday night and 85 paid for the Sunday night show. So combine that with all the band members and crew etc… the club was packed like it never was before. All together with the paid admission, the sales off the old Joe's Garage memorabilia and the raffle for the Dimebag painting… $3,545.00 was raised to give to Abb's wife Ruth for the Greig family. Not bad at all considering we only charged 5 measly dollars for door admission on all three nights. Plus, we still haven't added all the money made off the t-shirt sales. But it looks like another four to five hundred bucks profit was made off the T-shirt sales. That would put the final total over four grand. Unbelievable!"
